For anyone interested you can now purchase a MEDICAL ALERT FISTULA WRISTBANDS (similar to the Charity bands) from tynesidekpa.org.uk/fistula-... at a low cost of £1.85

I have just ordered mine, as not all medical staff know what a fistula is!

Absolute brilliant, answer to my problem, So are all members who blog and comment, your experiences and advices encouraged me to be firm and not take another no from my docs.. From 09 to end 2011 i was poisoned daily by Carbon Monoxide and Toxic smoke fumes from new boiler installed thro Gov's Warm Front scheme.. unaware that the serious health probs I suddenly developed Jan 09 some now chronic were due to CO etc. till Dec.10 toxic fumes continued till Dec. 11 cos Govs agents & cowboy plumbers they sent disappeared, and i kept getting fobbed off.. was too ill to battle then.. . Kidneys, all but stopped working. blood tests showed some Renal failure early on in the whole sorry saga.. had 33 sudden serious health problems
saw 8 different docs over first 2 yrs. had every organ test, scans, xrays, bloods, all singularly EXcept Renal department ..In and out of A & E like a resident suspected heart attacks, breathing difficulties, treated like aging senile hypochondriac, asked several times to go to renal as was not getting signals from bladder at all ..not getting auto signals to breath.. fobbed off. ended up housebound, no reaction. no action. again Docs not send District Nurse to take bloods said 'have to be housebound!!' unbelieveable.

I am left sight impaired, deaf, cant use my mobility scooter cant see enough to cross road etc.. still bloating & swelling, legs are so painful with water retention the more I walk the more excrutiating painful and less able I am to move.. vomiting every day inc. blood every time eat, getting worse, regular anaphylaxia late afternoons when poisons have built up during day, I look like Quasimodo, docs not respond to home visit requests. At my wits end I decided to look online for info and possible help.. Thanks to your support sight I found it and good news..

After reading all blogs decided to be firm this time demanded a home visit or referral to Renal Dept. said not taking no for answer this time..rang every day for a week 2 different docs rang me back - usual spiel - come to surgery. we sort it out .told them housebound. one of them said will send District nurse for bloods, non turned up.. Finally on the Friday a receptionist made appointment for home visit for 12 noon Monday last week. Again doc rang instead was not going to come i said in that case 'I will keep ringing surgery daily or just keep ringing 999 daily until someone take notice..

He came.he 'gobsmacked' at state I in,.he examined. he listened. he saw the anaphylaxia blisters..from day before , the swelling, the bloating, heard the wheezing, he acted..same day Halleluyah !!! He made urgent request for referral to Renal dept. to Scan Dept for full Stomach and Kidney Scan.. He had EpiPens delivered to me, has arranged for regular deliveries of my medications. 4 days later on Saturday I got my Scan appointment for next week Thurs 2nd November for stomach/pelvic/ kidney scan.. Action at last.

Oh got a good case against docs for negligence but was not going to bother, I too ill and I stressed out and not got any compensation from Gov. agents insurers yet..they keep fobbing me off too. I ended up with a dud solicitor who insisted for 8 month on referring to my boiler as Gas boiler when it Oil boiler..kicked him into touch and contacted Cowboy's insurers direct myself .. they doing delay tactics. am in process of changing solicitors now.. dud one wasted me valuable legal time. .I assure you all this is not fiction it is fact... I 70 yr old and been pushed from pillar to post for 4 year but not any more.... (I hope).. I feel more positive now thanks to your support site, thank you all , will let you know how I get on. if don't get action and treatment this time I will sue them. Hope u all having a Good day today.

Hello! Please keep us in touch as to how you are doing, you have been treated most unfairly!! I live in the South West and my treatment could not have been better, I am listened to and my views are respected.
It was my decision to ask for CAPD Dialysis and this was respected and acted upon.
I hope you are treated with the dignity you deserve from now on

Regards

Jamie, all the detials are in my original post. But I will put them again for you.

tynesidekpa.org.uk/fistula-...

The cost when I first put this up was £1.85 but the price may have changed. It is worth getting one as I have already come across some medical staff that do not know what a fistula is!
