Ureteral stent removal by surgery.

On Tuesday, I am due to go into hospital to have my Ureteral stent removed. I have had 2 done already under general anaesthetic the usual way, but I was passing small stones earlier this year and they took me in and re-scanned me. They found that calcium had stuck to either end of my stent. This means, he can't remove it the usual way (pull it out of my urether), because of the amount of calcium. He is going to cut into my kidney, so he can break/snip the stent and take it out, and at the same time do some Lithotripsy (?) where they laser my kidney to break up the calcium and hopefully remove as much as they can.
Obviously, a bit worried (will be down for 4 hours), but more concerned with pain management when I wake up and I don't want to use a bedpan!!!
When i get home I will come back on here and update to let you know exactly what they did in case anyone else ever has to have it done.

Thank you xx
I'm home. Luckily, they didn't have to do what they thought they would have to. The stent wasn't as calcified as they expected it to be. I think alot of the calcium had come off earlier in the year and I had passed them as stones. My kidney is a bit sore where they went in to have a look, but there is just a puncture wound.
I am more uncomfortable with my nose at the moment as I have sinusitis :(
